6. Social media plugins

We use social plugins from the Facebook and LinkedIn social networks on our website to publicise our company. The responsibility for operating the plugins in compliance with data protection laws is the responsibility of the respective providers. We integrate these plugins using what is known as the double-click method in order to provide visitors to our website with the best possible protection:

a) Facebook

Our website uses social plugins (“plugins”) for the Facebook social network that is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). The plugins feature the Facebook logo or are labelled “Social plugin of Facebook” or “Facebook social plugin”.

An overview of the Facebook plugins and what they look like can be found via the following link: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins

When you access a page of our website that contains one of these plugins, your browser creates a direct connection to the Facebook servers. The plugin content is transmitted by Facebook directly to your browser and integrated into the page. This integration provides Facebook with the information that your browser has accessed the particular page of our website, even if you do not have a Facebook profile or are not currently logged in to Facebook. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted by your browser directly to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there.

If you are logged in to Facebook, Facebook can directly assign your visit to our website to your Facebook profile. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the “Like” button or posting a comment, this information is also transmitted directly to a Facebook server and stored there. The information is also published on your Facebook profile and displayed to your Facebook friends.

The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook, as well as your rights in this regard and setting options for protecting your privacy, can be found in Facebook’s data protection information via the following link: http://www.facebook.com/policy.php

If you do not want Facebook to assign the data collected via our website directly to your Facebook profile, you must log out of Facebook before visiting our website. You can also completely block Facebook plugins from being loaded by using add-ons for your browser, e.g.

for Mozilla Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/facebook-blocker/

for Opera:
https://addons.opera.com/de/extensions/details/facebook-blocker/?display=en

for Chrome:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/facebookblocker/chlhacbfddknadmnmjmkdobipdpjakmc?hl=de

b) Instagram

Our website uses Instagram social plugins (‘plugins’) operated by Meta Platforms, Inc., based in Menlo Park, California, USA. These plugins are identified by the Instagram logo, for example, in the form of an ‘Instagram camera.’

When you visit a page on our website that contains such plugins, your browser establishes a direct connection to Instagram’s servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly to your browser by Instagram and integrated into the page. This integration allows Instagram to receive information about your browser’s visit to the corresponding page on our website, even if you do not have an Instagram profile or are not currently logged into Instagram. This information, including your IP address, is transmitted by your browser directly to a server operated by Instagram in the USA and stored there.

If you are logged into Instagram, Instagram can directly associate your visit to our website with your Instagram account. When you interact with the plugins, such as clicking the ‘Instagram’ button, this information is also transmitted directly to Instagram’s server, where it is stored. Additionally, this information is published on your Instagram account and displayed to your contacts.

For more details on the purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of data by Instagram, as well as your related rights and privacy settings, please refer to Instagram’s privacy policy: https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy.

If you do not want Instagram to directly associate the data collected through our website with your Instagram account, we recommend that you log out of Instagram before visiting our website.

c) LinkedIn

We use components of the LinkedIn network on our website. LinkedIn is a service provided by LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Each time you visit our website, which contains such a component, this component causes the browser you are using to download a corresponding image of the component from LinkedIn.

This process informs LinkedIn which specific page of our website is currently being visited. If you click the LinkedIn “Recommend” button while you are logged into your LinkedIn account, you can link to the content of our pages on your LinkedIn profile. This enables LinkedIn to assign the visit to our web pages to your LinkedIn user account.

We have no influence on the data that LinkedIn collects through doing this, nor on the amount of data collected by LinkedIn. We also have no knowledge of the content of the data transmitted to LinkedIn. Details on how LinkedIn collects data and on your rights and settings options can be found in LinkedIn’s privacy policy. You can find this information at https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy

7. Data subject rights

You have the right:

  • to request information about your personal data that is processed by us. In particular, you can: request information about the processing purposes, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or will be disclosed, the planned storage period, your right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing or the right to object or opt out, the right to lodge a complaint, the origin of your data if it has not been collected by us, as well as the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, and, if applicable, meaningful information about its details;

  • to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, common and machine-readable format or to request that it be transferred to another responsible party;

  • file a complaint to a supervisory authority. To do this yourself, you can as a general rule contact the supervisory authority of your usual place of residence or workplace or contact our company headquarters.

8. Right to object

You have the right to object to your personal data being processed provided that grounds exist for doing so that arise from your particular situation or if the objection is related to direct advertising. In the case of the latter, you are granted a general right of objection which we shall implement without a particular situation being specified. If you would like to exercise your right to withdraw consent or to object, simply send an e-mail to info@luzern-business.ch
