Your degree qualification in Switzerland

You can have your vocational degree or diploma recognised in Switzerland. This recognition confirms that your diploma or degree is equivalent to a Swiss diploma or degree. If you want to work in a regulated profession (e.g. nursing, teaching, etc.), recognition is obligatory in order to practise the profession. Different offices are responsible for the recognition process, depending on the profession or training.

This tool lets you check whether recognition is required or optional for your profession:

Qualification level certificate

Not all professions require your degrees/diplomas and training to be recognised in Switzerland. However, to help you find your ideal job, it is worth applying for a level certificate to show the value of your diploma in the Swiss education system. This makes it easier for companies to see whether you are suitable for the job.

Recognition of professional qualifications gained outside Switzerland:

Obtaining your professional qualification

You may have extensive professional experience but no professional qualification that is recognised in Switzerland. In this case, you have the option of broadening your professional career by obtaining foundation-level or advanced-level Swiss vocational training. Taking this route is certain to open up new doors and prospects for you on the employment market.

The procedure for acquiring a vocational qualification takes account of your individual educational background, professional experience and age. It enables you to have your existing skills and competencies translated into a recognised vocational qualification.
